Mrs. Myrtie Sue (Vaughn) Blackwell, age 80, of Lavonia, died Monday, March 1, 2010 at Hartwell Healthcare Center following an extended illness.
Born April 2, 1929, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Jack & Bertha (Bratcher) Vaughn. She retired from Lavonia Mfg. Mrs. Blackwell was a member of Compassion Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Johnnie Eugene Blackwell; and sisters: Helen Wright, Doris Dodson, Louise Smith, & Jelane Davis.
She is survived by her son Michael Blackwell of Lavonia; daughters: Vicky Ray of Royston & Sharon Kingery of Spartanburg, SC; brothers: Jack Vaughn & Joe Vaughn of Lavonia; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Franklin Memorial Gardens – North with Rev. Leon Carson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. At other hours the family will be at Mrs. Blackwell’s home.
