Obituary:
Joy Buffington Franks, of 252 Rocky Ford Road, Lavonia, died at her home on July 5th 2010.
Born in Hart County on December 11, 1933, to Charlie and Mary Lou Buffington, She was a graduate of Lavonia High School and was retired from Hart County School System. Joy was a member of Providence United Methodist Church, where she served on various committees.
Survivors include her loving husband of fifty seven years: Phil Franks; son and daughter in law: Keith and Teena Franks; granddaughter: Jesse Franks, all of Covington; son: Rodney Franks of Conyers; daughter: Donna Franks of Covington; sister and brother in law: Sandra and Herman Bailey of Hartwell; brother and sister in law: David and Polly Buffington of Lavonia; brother: Donald Buffington of Hartwell; sister and brother in law: Karen and Charles Stovall of Lavonia; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friend at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home.
