Mr. Frederick “Rick” E. Hampel, of Hartwell, GA, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Rainey Hospice House, Anderson, SC.
Born August 26, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Frederick Hampel and Marion Keller Hampel. He was a US Army WWII veteran serving in the Pacific Theater and Korean War. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by wife of 31 years, Betty Nevins Hampel of Hartwell, GA; three daughters, Dorothy “Dee” Hampel of Willow Grove, PA, Jennifer Uribe of Flowery Branch, GA, Valerie Gelmini of Lawrenceville, GA; a son, Chris Minervino of Hartwell, GA; two grandsons, Chris Ball and Kevin Ball of Newtown, PA; a brother, Richard Hampel of Chalfont PA also survives.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Father Terence Kane will officiate. The family will receive friend after the memorial service in the Founders Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Knights of Columbus, c/o Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 1009 Benson St, Hartwell, GA 30643.
