Obituary:
Mr. Thomas F. Cobb, Sr., 77, of 605 Old Hwy 29, Hartwell, died Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Rainey Hospice House.

Born on April 26, 1933 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Robert Marshall and Essie Beatrice Pierce Cobb. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and was a former partner of DuBois Farms of Boynton Beach, Florida. After moving back to Hartwell, he retired from farming and being a security guard at Hart County Hospital. He was also a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Thomas F. Cobb, Jr. of Watkinsville, GA; two daughters, Linda Parker and her husband Dan of Hartwell, and Sherri Durham and her husband Douglas of Hartwell; three brothers, James Cobb of Hartwell, Johnny Cobb of Hartwell, and Charles Cobb of Sumter, SC; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a special friend, Carlene Milford of Hartwell also survives. Mr. Cobb was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley Ann DuBois Cobb; four brothers, Furman Cobb, R.M. Cobb, Winfred Cobb, and Hubert Cobb; and two sisters, Sue Smith, and Faye Crowe.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Rev. James Sexton and Rev. Mike Westbrook officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday night. The family is at their respective homes. Special Memorials may be made out to Hospice of the Upstate at 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
