Obituary:
Mrs. Doris Vaughn Dodson, age 77, of Lavonia, died Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Willow Garden Personal Care Home.
Born May 16, 1931, in Royston, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Bertha (Bratcher) Vaughn. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Dodson was a seamstress in the textile industry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters: Helen Wright, Louise Smith, and Jelane Davis.
She is survived by son & daughter-in-law: Donnie & Mary Dodson of Concord, NC; daughter: Cathy Smith of Lavonia; daughter & son-in-law: Karen & Darryl Dean of Toccoa; grandchildren: Kevin Dodson and Amanda, Olin Smith and Ashley, Kyle Dodson and Missy, Laura Smith, and Matthew Smith: great-grandchildren: Cole Dodson, C J Blackwell, and Jazlyn Blackwell; brothers: Jack Vaughn and Joe Vaughn; sister: Sue Blackwell.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. At other times the families will be at their respective homes.
