Obituary:
Mr. Michael David Collins, age 57, of Lavonia, died Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born February 16, 1952, in Savannah, GA, he was the son of Peggy Joyce Cain and the late Melvin Lee Collins. Mr. Collins served in the US Army and was a carpenter.
He is survived by daughters: Susan Michelle Holmes of Lavonia and Rachael LaFaver of Carnesville; brothers: Asa Collins, Bruce Collins, Joe Cain, and Jason Young all of Lavonia; sister: Cindy Fulghum of Lavonia; grandchildren: Diana Collins, Justin Collins, Kristan Collins, Frankie Peterson, Savannah LaFaver, Olivia LaFaver, Logan Holmes, Meaghin Holmes, and J. J. LaFaver.
A memorial service will be held 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Family Life Center. The family is at the home of Asa Collins, 4075 Lankford Rd. Lavonia.
The family request flowers be omitted and memorials be made to help defray the cost of the funeral.
