Obituary:
Mr. Charles Davis Carter, age 80, of Highway 17, Lavonia, died Monday, July 6, 2009 at Hart County Hospital due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born April 29, 1929, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Albert & Carlene (Davis) Carter. He was a retired truck driver and worked for Keisler’s Body Shop. Mr. Carter was a veteran of the US Air Force and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his special friend: Virginia Blakely of Eastanollee; brother: Dan “Talmadge” Carter of Martin; and sisters: Kathryn Pickren of Martin & Wynelle Cobb of Conyers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: James Ray Carter.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Harvill officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 1333 Pleasant Hill Rd., Lavonia, GA 30553.
