Mr. Charles E. Blackmon, age 92, of 1483 Elberton Hwy., Hartwell, GA, died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born January 20, 1917 in Hart County, GA, he was the son of the late Thomas Jackson Tom Blackmon and Beulah Jordan Blackmon. He was a retired Underground and Right Away Foreman at Hart EMC for 35 years. He was a member of Hartwell First Baptist Church, Doc Adams Sunday School Class and the Hartwell Lions Club. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran, where he served in the European Theater, as a Corporal.
He is survived by: Sons, Alan Blackmon and his wife Shelvia of Seneca, SC and Mark Blackmon of Hartwell, GA and Three grandchildren, Ashley, Christin and Paige Blackmon. He is preceded in death by his Parents; Wife, Frances Fleming Blackmon; Daughter, Donna Blackmon and a Brother, James Blackmon.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Rev. Carter Tucker and Dr. Steve Williams will officiate. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Sunday from 1 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. The family is at the home. The family requests no flowers or food; Memorials may be made to Hartwell First Baptist Church Building Fund, 81 E. Howell Street, Hartwell, GA 30643.
