Obituary:
Mr. Hoyt R. Brown, age 87, of 1867 Smith McGee Hwy., Hartwell, GA, died Monday, January 4, 2010 at Willow Gardens Assisted Living Facility.

Born December 15, 1922 in Hart County, GA, he was the son of the late William Newton Brown and Fannie Sue Craft Brown. He was retired from Clarke – Schwebel. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Mens I Sunday School Class, former Deacon, former Sunday School Teacher, former member of Wilkes Co. Lions Club and Gideons International – Hart County Camp. He was also a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran and served in the Pacific Theater.

Survivors include: Wife, Nellie Thompson Brown of the home; Son, Randy Brown and his wife Gail of Toccoa, GA; Daughter, Carolyn Brown of Hartwell, GA; Brother, Austin Brown of Starr, SC; Sisters, Robbie Black of Hartwell, GA and Mary Wilhite of Hartwell, GA; Grandchildren, Andy Brown, Chris Brown, Amanda Garcia, Rebecca Shedd and Two great grandchildren, Kya Garcia and Leo Garcia also survive. He is preceded in death by his Parents; Brother, Billy Brown and a Sister, Louise Nix.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Baptist Church. Rev. Terry Meeks will officiate. Burial will be in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 – 8:00 p.m. The family is at their respective homes.
