Mr. Donald "Don" Warren

February 10, 1942 - March 7, 2022

Mr. Donald Joseph “Don” Warren, 80, of Hartwell, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital. Born on February 10, 1942 in Birmingham, AL, he was the son of the late Joseph Clayton Warren and Ethelda “Tootsie” Hinkle Shaw. Mr. Warren was a self-employed real estate appraiser and was owner/operatorof Gwinnett Appraisal Services from 1970-2010, and then was a retired real estate agent for Fort Realty/Caldwell-Banker Realty. He was also a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher, member of the choir, and former deacon. Don attended the University of Alabama and Georgia State University. He was and avid golfer, fisherman (South Gwinnett Bass Club), hunter (Buck Snort Hunting Club), and leaf burner. Don was also a veteran of the Alabama Air National Guard. Survivors include his wife: Carolyn “Carol” Speegle Warren; two daughters: Shae W. Hale (Chris) of Fayetteville, GA, and Mandi W. Sonnon (David) of Suwanee; sister: Sharon Kemp of Foley, AL; and five grandchildren: Draven Sonnon, Nathan Hale, Logan Sonnon, Emmie Hale, and Mason Sonnon. He is also survived by many extended family members and numerous special friends. Mr. Warren is preceded in death by his parents and step-father: Willie Ralph Shaw. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. A service celebrating Mr. Don Warren’s life will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Webb, Mr. Leslie Boles, and Rev. Phil Romine officiating. Mr. Warren will be cremated following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International, Hart Co. Camp, P.O. Box 59, Hartwell, GA 30643. The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
