Mrs. Jeanette Martin Gurley

February 6, 1935 - May 7, 2022

Mrs. Jeanette Martin Gurley, 87, of Race Street, Hartwell, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Hart Care Center surrounded by her family. Born on February 6, 1935 in Hartwell GA, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Judson Martin and Lorene Shaw Martin. Mrs. Gurley formally attended Goldmine Church of God and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartwell. Although she worked for some time at Vandiver Office Supply, the majority of her life was spent taking care of family as a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her son: Mike Gurley (Debbie) of Hartwell; two granddaughters: Jessica Bailey (Evan) of Hartwell and Jenny Mansfield (Michael) of Watkinsville GA; three great-grandchildren: Wyatt Bailey, Collins Mansfield and Bennett Mansfield and two brothers: Billy Sam Martin of Hartwell and Stanley Martin of Marietta GA. Mrs. Gurley was preceded in death by her husband: Jack L. Gurley and a sister: Brenda M. Bell. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home of Mike & Debbie Gurley, 1327 Old Beacon Light Road, Hartwell. Funeral services for Mrs. Jeanette Gurley will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Gary Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park. Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the Nancy Hart Foundation, a local Breast Cancer support group, PO Box 1065, Hartwell GA 30643. The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
