Ms. Kay Campbell Alewine, 69, of Hartwell formerly of Clarkesville, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospice House, Watkinsville GA. Born on January 8, 1951 in Maxton NC, she was the daughter of the late James S. Campbell and Clara Maude Shiflet Campbell. Ms. Alewine was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church, spent several years volunteering in a Thrift Store in Clarkesville and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters: Ginger Vickery Johnson and Rhonda Vickery Sanders (Jason); three grandchildren: Bailey Sanders Walters (Jonathan), Jacey Sanders and Davey Sanders all of Clarkesville; three sisters: Hailey Teasley (Allen), Betty Welborn (Don) and Peggy Wilson all of Hartwell; a sister-in-law: Lynn Campbell of Hogansville GA; four nieces and five nephews also survive. Ms. Alewine was preceded in death by her parents and a brother: Jim Campbell. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Everyone will be asked to practice Social Distancing and Face Mask are recommended. At other times the family will be at the home of Rhonda and Jason Sanders. Ms. Alewine wished to be cremated and a service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Forrest Ferguson officiating. Interment of her ashes will be in the Oak Bower Baptist Church Cemetery. The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
