Mr. Marvin Lowry

January 10, 1940 - April 4, 2022

Marvin Mack Lowry, age 82, formerly of Martin, passed away Monday, April 4, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Born January 10, 1940, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late Grady and Mamie Lowry. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and retired as program manager for the Georgia Environmental Protection Division. Mr. Lowry was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Lavonia Lions Club and the Lavonia First United Methodist Church, where he served as a faithful member of the church choir and the Methodist Men’s Club. Among his many achievements throughout his lifetime, Mr. Lowry was most proud of his family. He is survived by his wife: Lula Lowry; sons: Gibson (Tonya) Lowry and Arthur (Shannon) Lowry; brother: O. G. (Ruby) Lowry; sister: Barbara (Jim) Spencer; and five grandchildren: Jessica Lowry, Emma Grace Lowry, Kylie Lowry, Collin Lowry and Matthew Lowry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Lowry, a sister, Rhonwyn Lowry, and a grandson, Grady Lowry. A Celebration of Life will be held at Lavonia First United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 23, 2022. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00pm at the church followed by the service at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia is in charge of the arrangements.
