Mr. A. C. Banister, 92, of Crawford's Ferry Road, Hartwell, died Monday, January 19, 2015 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.
Born on August 6, 1922 in Hartwell, he was the son of the late Parker A. Banister and Lil Welborn Banister.He was a farmer and a member of the Reed Creek Baptist Church.Mr. Banister also was a member of the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge #690, Yarrab Temple Shrine, Hart County Cattlemen's Association and the Hart County Farm Bureau.He was a World War II US Army Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater.
Survivors include one son: Edward Banister and his wife Emily of Hartwell; four daughters; Frances Temples of Lilburn, GA, Linda Clyde and her husband Barry of Duluth, Doris Slaughter and her husband
Terry and Sara Feltman and her husband Brown all of Hartwell; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild also survive.Mr. Banister was preceded in death by his wife: Ruby Alice Holland Banister; one granddaughter: Jennifer Wolfe and two sisters: Clara Jane Banister and Rachel Dunn.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Mr. Fred Greenway officiating. Burial in the Memorial Garden of Prayer Cemetery with Military Honors.
