Mr. Aaron Grady Floyd, age 87, of Lavonia, died Friday, June 10, 2016 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.
Born February 1, 1929, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late O. Z. and Annie Belle (Pitts) Floyd. He was a veteran of the US Army. He retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass after 31 years of service. Mr. Floyd was an avid farmer and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters: Barbara McMahon, Brenda Brawner, and Joan Sims; and brothers: Tony Floyd, Shelton Floyd, and Wesley Floyd.
He is survived by his wife: Jimmie Ruth (Childs) Floyd of the home; son & daughter-in-law: Jeff & Lucy Floyd of Lavonia; grandchildren: Nick & Kristin Floyd of La Marque, TX, Chelsea & Tyler Hill of Commerce, and Caitlin & Alex Kraeling of Jefferson; great-grandchild: Graeme Aaron Floyd of La Marque, TX; sister: Anita Wright; and brothers: Ancel Floyd and Maurice Floyd.
The funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2016 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Holland officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North with Rev. Josh Harvill officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. At other hours, the family will be at the home of Jeff & Lucy Floyd.
