Obituary

Aaron Durant "A.D." Reese, age 76 of 450 Hidden Point Road, Hartwell, Ga., husband of Doretha Holland Reese, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 at Hartwell Health Care Center.

Born March 7, 1930 in Fulton County, he was the son of the late Aaron Clark Reese and Clara Mae Henry Reese. Mr. Reese was retired from the Atlanta Fire Department as Captain with twenty-six years of service. Durant and Doretha retired to Hartwell in 1987, where they joined the Reed Creek Baptist Church.He was active in the Golden Agers, a member of the Mel Loyd Sunday School Class, a former deacon, and served on various committees of the church. He was a member of the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge #690 and the Hartwell Golf Club. An avid golfer, he often played in amateur tournaments in the Atlanta area.He played in the Southern League Baseball Conference from 1948 to 1953. He coached baseball in the Sandtown and Red Oak Little League Associations from 1956 to 1979 and was a parent coach for the North Cobb High School. He was a 1948 graduate of West Fulton High School where he played on the 1946 Georgia High School State Championship Baseball Team.

He is survived by his wife of the home; sons: Rance Reese and his wife Donna of Cleveland, Ga., Aaron J. "Chip" Reese and his wife Marji of Cuthbert, Ga., and Kyle Reese and his wife Christina of Canton, Ga.; daughter: Rhonda Reese Stewart and her husband Larry of Duluth, Ga. Eleven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter also survives.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 23, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. from the Reed Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Sam Dulaney and Rev. Carter Tucker will officiate. The body will be placed in the church at 9:30 a.m. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Arlington Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, Atlanta GA, with the Atlanta Fire Department Honor Guard in charge.

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home-Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening. The family will be at the home.
