Mr. Albert "Al" Wessendorf, Jr., 87, of 280 Tanglewood Lane, Hartwell, GA, died Friday, June 22, 2007 at Hart County Hospital.

Born February 24, 1920 in Berrien Co, MI, he was the son of the lat Albert E. Wessendorf, Sr. and Laura Dombrowsky Wessendorf. He was a retired Real Estate Agent in Michigan.He was a member of Hartwell First United Methodist Church, where he was active in various committees, life member of Elks, member of Marine Corps League in Anderson, SC, and was a Veteran of WW II, South Pacific 4th Marine Division and Commander of St. Joseph's Power Squardon.

He is survived by:Wife, Virgil Shire Wessendorf of the home; Sons, David C. Wessendorf of Rio Rico, AZ, Forrest E. Wessendorf of Royston, GA and William J. Wessendorf of Niles, MI; Daughters, Jean C. Wessendorf of Hartford, MI and Shirley J. Strawbridge of Bent Harbor, MI; 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren also survive.


Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church.Dr. R. Allen Stewart will officiate. Cremation will follow.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8:00 p.m.Memorials may be made to Hartwell First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Howell Street, Hartwell, GA30643.
