Albert Eddie Childs Jr. (Sonny Childs), formerly of Lavonia Ga. passed away at his home in Anderson, SC on Monday September 15, 2025, at the age of 85. Albert was the son of Albert Eddie Childs Sr. and Francis P. Childs and was the loving and devoted husband of Bobbie Jean Childs for 64 years.

He was a graduate of Lavonia High School, and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Lavonia, Georgia. He was also a member of Lavonia Masonic Lodge for 60+ years. Albert was known by many to be an honest, frank, ingenious and hardworking man who had a wonderful sense of humor and loved spending time with his family and friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed rebuilding antique tractors and trucks, auctions, cattle farming and the beauty of nature.

Albert served his country by joining the military in 1959. Throughout his career, he worked as a machinist for 22 years at Monroe, WABCO, Temco and Amco before becoming the proprietor of Metco Inc. a precision Tool and Die Company in Anderson, SC from 1983 until his retirement.

Albert is survived by and is greatly missed by his wife Bobbie Jean, three daughters, Sheree D. Childs, Ginger R. Childs and Lisa Y. Childs and a son Beau D. Childs and his wife Tonya, all living in the Upstate SC area. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Evan Cooper, and Landon Childs, and 5 step grandchildren.

Family and friends may gather at 622 Sunrise Circle Fair Play, SC 29643, following the graveside funeral on Thursday the 18th of September at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Mickey Umbehant officiating and with Masonic Rites.
