Mr. Albert William Murray, 85, of Hartwell GA, died peacefully in the presence of family on Thursday, May 18, 2017 after a long illness.
Born May 5, 1932, in Toccoa GA, Albert graduated from Georgia Teachers College, now Georgia Southern University, in Statesboro GA, in 1955 and taught Industrial Arts and other subjects at Statesboro High School for 30 years. Albert also owned Murray Cabinet Company, Statesboro GA for over 25 years. After retiring to Hartwell GA, Albert owned the Craftsman Shop until 2010. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Church of God, Hartwell GA.
Albert is survived by his wife of 65 years, Billie Ruby Garland Murray; three children, two sons: Philip Wayne (Susan) Murray, Statesboro GA; William Timothy (Deirdre) Murray, Athens GA and a daughter: Stacy Lynn (Tommy) Dantzler, Charleston SC; three grandsons: Nathaniel Seth (Amy) Murray, Augusta GA, Philip Andrew Murray, Atlanta GA and LT Dantzler, Charleston SC. Also surviving are four sisters: Rose Kesler, Toccoa GA, Beatrice Collins, Columbia SC, Louise (Rev. Robert) Rudeseal, Cornelia GA, Kathy (Tommy) Richardson, Hartwell GA and four brothers: Thomas Murray, Hartwell GA, Jerry Murray, Toccoa GA, Robert (Kathy) Murray, Eastanollee GA, Daniel (Ann) Murray, Hartwell GA as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Albert was preceded in his death by his parents, Ralph and Etta Anderson Murray and a sister, Maudie Sue Elrod.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Ken Pirkle and Rev. Robert Rudeseal officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.The family is at the home.
