Mr. Alfred Lamar Sapp, age 70, of Lavonia, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born November 6, 1941, in Lavonia, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Ruby Nell (Wooten) Sapp. He retired from Franklin Industries as a supervisor. After retirement he worked as a truck driver with Columbia Farms. He served in the US National Guard for six years. Mr. Sapp attended Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Doris (Decker) Sapp; son and daughter-in-law: Stewart Lamar and Tracy Sapp; granddaughter: Katie Lynn Sapp; and sisters: Laverne Holcomb and Ellen Watkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson: Kyle Richard Sapp.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Jason DeFoor and Rev. Darvin Slaton officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to Poplar Springs Building Fund, The Alzheimer's Association, or the American Heart Association.
