Mrs. Alice Lee (Boyd) Franklin, 88, of Lawrenceville, formerly of Lavonia, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Almost Like Home Personal Care Home.
Born September 18, 1923, in Asheville, NC, she was the daughter of the late John Robert Boyd and Julia Regina Wright. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Lavonia Presbyterian Church USA and the Presbyterian Women.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Laban Leonard Franklin, and seven of her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children: Holly McCoy and husband Scott of Buford, Randy Franklin and wife Anne of McDonough, Bruce Franklin of McDonough, and Larry Franklin and wife Diane of Pell City, AL; sister: Mary Cox of Clearwater, FL; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Scarlett Bostick officiating. Entombment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that acts of kindness and goodwill be done in memory of Mrs. Franklin's generous and caring nature.
