Mrs. Alice Dorothy Turpin Rice, 85, of 262 Carolina Street, Hartwell, died Monday, April 29, 2013 at AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC.

Born on July 29, 1927 in Toccoa, GA, she was the daughter of the late William W. Turpin and Nancy Ollie Gibby Turpin.She retired from Bellcraft Manufacturing Company where she worked as a seamstress and was a member of Milltown Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Dunn and her husband Gary of Hartwell; one sister, Lula Ricketts of Belton, SC; five grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James A. Rice; one son, Mack Rice; one brother, George Turpin; two sisters: Sarah Standridge and Ruth Standridge; and a grandson, Mark Rice.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Janice Loggins officiating.Burial will be at Milltown Baptist Church Cemetery.
