Allen & Nina Bowden, ages 68 and 60, of Canon, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022 at their home.
Allen was born April 23, 1953, in Dothan, AL, a son of the late Edlow and Alice (Trammel) Bowden. Prior to retirement he was a mechanic by trade. He was of the Holiness faith and was an avid Bible reader. He enjoyed playing the guitar and fishing.
Nina was born June 25, 1961, in Franklin County, a daughter of the late J. T. and Laura (Peeples) Dove. She was a homemaker and was of the Holiness faith. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, drawing, and spending time with her family.
In addition to their parents, they were preceded in death by an infant daughter: Tina Elaine Bowden; Allen's siblings: Edward, Willene, Lois, Comer, Leroy, Judy, and Shirley; and Nina's brothers: Leon and Nathaniel.
They are survived by their children: Teresa Ann Haygood, Elaine Scott (Jae), Mae Justice, Allen Bowden Jr.; nieces: Julie, Renee, Elizabeth, Norma Jean, and Shannon; nephews: Greg and Ronnie; siblings: Hugh (Sara) Dove and Lois D. Sorrow; grandchildren: Kasie Martin (Tra'e), Katie Young (Colt), Freddy Haygood Jr. (Kerstyn), Toby Haygood, Alaina LaCount (Chris), Mikayla Blakesley (Charleston), Tristen Scott, Teagan Scott, Taylor Galliher, Angelina Mendoza, Damon Justice, Samantha Bowden, and Valori Bowden; great-grandchildren: Tyler, TerAnn, Trinity, Cameron, Lauren, Brooklyn, Adaleigh, Brantley, and Jace.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Ken Buffington officiating. Burial will follow in Bowers Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the service.
