Ms. Alma Jo Alexander Carruth, 74, of 206 S. Webb Street, Hartwell, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Hart County Hospital.
Born on September 7, 1936 in Elberton, GA, she was the daughter of the late Henry Frank Alexander and Grace Holmes Alexander.She was formerly a waitress at The Pit Stop and also worked for the Monroe Company and the Hartwell Garment Company.She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three sons: Martin Dale Carruth and his wife, Rebecca, Danny Bruce Carruth and his wife, Judy, and Barry Curtis Carruth and his wife, Lynn; one brother: Wilton Alexander of Hartwell; two sisters: Kate Pless of Elberton, and Wilene White of Hartwell; seven grandchildren: Jessica Carruth, Martin Carruth, Jr., Cullin Carruth, Wesley Smith, Lynn Carruth, Melissa Whiting, and Christopher Purcell; four great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Ms. Carruth was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband: Jack Carruth; and four brothers: Frank Alexander, Raymond Alexander, Horace Alexander, and George Alexander.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Meeks officiating. Burial will be in the Coldwater United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.The family is at the home.
