Alton Ray "Tap" Weaver, 70, of 796 North Forest Avenue, passed away Thursday morning, May 17, 2007, at the Hart County Hospital in Hartwell, GA, after an extended illness.
Born June 14, 1936, in Hart County, he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Burlee McCollum Weaver. He was the brother of the late Sara Margaret Vickery and Mary Frances Motes. He had worked for the Hartwell Coca Cola Bottling Company. He had worked in the funeral industry for over 50 years.He had been employed by the Smith Funeral Home of Hartwell, GA, Martin Funeral Home of Elberton, GA, McGahee-Griffin of Cornelia, Bernstein Funeral Home of Athens, GA, Brown Funeral Home of Seneca, SC, Hallman Funeral Home of Hartwell, GA, and has been a loyal employee of Ginn Funeral Home since 1996. He was a member of the Hartwell Lions Club, a Mason and member of the Scottish and York Rites, and was a Shriner. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hartwell and a member of the Doc Adams Sunday School Class.

Services will be Saturday morning, at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Hartwell, with the Rev. Scott Lee, Rev. Gary Thompson, and Rev Steve Williams officiating. Internment will be in the Oconee Memorial Park, in Seneca, SC. Pallbearers will be Sid Ginn, Ken Macomson, Michael Lee, David Fleming, Lee Chafin, and Douglas Hembree. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Doc Adams Sunday School and his fellow employees at Ginn Funeral Home.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home, Hartwell, and will be placed in the church at 10:30am Saturday morning.The family is at the home. They will receive friends from 6 until 8pm Friday evening at the Strickland Funeral Home in Hartwell.
