Anita Lake (Whittaker) Watkins, age 91, of Martin, passed away Monday, October 19, 2020 at her home.
Born July 29, 1929, in Princeton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Vohn Whittaker and Ethel Alene Fain. She served in the US Air Force during the Korean War, where she met her husband, James Watkins. After she graduated from Concord College in Athens, WV, she worked as a senior auditor with the Internal Revenue Service for several years and later retired as a tax accountant. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
She is survived by daughter & son-in-law: Dianna Watkins & Nathanael Berglund; grandson: Seth Kesler; sister: Lou Conner; sister-in-law: Betty Whittaker; caregivers: Billy McCollum and Diane Cochran; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Doug Whittaker, Mary Jane Whittaker, and Ruth Tice.
