Ann Hewin Price quietly and peacefully departed this earthly life for her heavenly home on the afternoon of Monday, May 8, 2017. She entered into the presence of her Lord and was reunited with her beloved husband of nearly sixty years, Almon G. "Al" Price.
She was born the third of four daughters to the late Elias John and Annie Maude Grant Hewin on July 18, 1928, in Hart County, GA. As a family, they moved in 1931 from a farm in the Grady Community to one in the Shoal Creek Community after a hail storm destroyed the season's cotton crop. With her family, she planted and chopped and picked cotton thru the first eighteen years of her life. She then spent the last thirty-seven years of her life on a portion of that same land as she faithfully supported Al in ministry and in retirement, in sickness and in health.
Following studies at Toccoa Falls College and her marriage to Al, she served at his side as he pastored eight churches in the southeast over twenty-eight years. In 1980, they became Field Representatives and Missionary Evangelists with Northwest Baptist Missions of Salt Lake City, UT. For twenty-two years they represented the work of the Mission throughout the country, helping to establish new churches in the Intermountain West. In 2001, they retired from full-time involvement with the Mission but continued to minister as opportunity arose.
Her family includes son, Philip Price of Greenville, SC; daughter, Ruth Ann Price of the home in Lavonia; granddaughter, Jeni Price Key, husband Michael Key and great-grandsons Levi Christian Key and Silas Jonathan Key of Bishop, GA; grandson Elias Jared Price of Greenville, SC; sisters Louise Turner of Lavonia, Dorothy Evelyn Hewin MacKay of Watkinsville, GA (deceased), and Mary Elizabeth Hewin Ray of Watkinsville, GA (deceased), and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She is, and always will be, part of our family and part of God's family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Victory Baptist Church in Lavonia. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Lavonia. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Northwest Baptist Missions, Building Fund, P. O. Box 548, Tooele, UT 84074-0548.
