Mrs. Anna Mae (Drew) Adkins, age 89, formerly of Lavonia, died Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Mountain View Nursing Home, Clayton.
Born June 18, 1920, in Laurel, IN, she was the daughter of the late Harrison & Bertha (Gabbard) Drew. She was a homemaker and was formerly employed with Roars Aircraft in Riverside, CA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Dennis Isom Adkins; brothers: Thurman, Casper, Harrison Jr., Phillip, William, Clyde, & Buster Drew; and sisters: Dortha Lykins, Leatha Dunbar, Effie Drew, Bertha Harper, & Jaine Drew.
She is survived by her daughter: Sally Adkins; brother: Archie Drew; sisters: Dora Mullins & Georgia Dunbar; grandchildren: Marvin Adkins, Melissa Stroming, & Vanessa Moore; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bowers Memorial Cemetery.The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
