Mrs. Annie Lee (Harris) Alewine, age 92, of Lavonia, died Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Brown Memorial Convalescent Center.
Born November 9, 1917 in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Columbus & Hester (Fennell) Harris. She worked at Carwood Mfg. and Gumlog Bar B Que for many years. Mrs. Alewine was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: John W. Alewine; daughters: Carolyn Hinson & Rebecca Ryan; sons: William Ray Alewine, Guy Alewine, Roy Alewine, & Herman Alewine; sisters: Ethel Greer, Pearl Powers, Mary Alewine, & Ruby Owen; brothers: Lester Harris, J. D. Harris, Cromer Harris, Henry Harris, & Oscar Lee Harris; grandchildren: Tim Alewine & Kim Ryan; and great grandchild: Alex Herring.
Survivors include daughter: Elouise Donald of Lavonia; daughter and son-in-law: Johnnie Sue & Monroe Faulkner of Ila; son: Kenneth Alewine of Lavonia; seventeen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2010 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Alewine officiating. Burial will follow in Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Elouise Donald.
