MSGT Arthur Maurice "Art" Shields, USAF Ret., age 67, of Lavonia, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.

Born April 20, 1954, in Winston-Salem, NC, he was the son of the late Arthur Gray Shields and Margaret Louise (South) Shields. He retired from the United States Air Force, as Master Sergeant, after twenty-three years of faithful service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Stephen Shields and Jeffery Shields.

He is survived by his wife: Paula Lequire Shields; daughter: Carrie Shields Ginn; grandchildren: Kolby Lee Ginn and Kaitlee Gray Ginn; and sisters: Gelia Mason and Kathy Cercy.

Mr. Shields's request was to be cremated and no formal services are planned at this time.
