Arthurlene (Chappelear) Ethridge, age 80, of Lavonia, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born August 5, 1938, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Ray and Mildred (Grubbs) Chappelear. She was a graduate of Lavonia High School and retired as a CNA at the Clary Center. Ms. Ethridge was a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children: Nelson Ethridge; daughter: Mildred Louise Ethridge; beloved four-legged grandchildren: Puckey and Jasmine; brothers: McRoss Chappelear, Bobby Chappelear, Kenneth Chappelear and Mike Chappelear; and sisters: Rebecca Dowis, Jean Scott, and Cathrine Chappelear.
She is survived by her beloved four-legged grandchild: Ella; daughters: Tracy Ethridge and Melinda & Cary Bennett; son: Jeff & Lydia Ethridge; brother: Dale & Tammie Chappelear; sisters: Bonnie Elliott, Jane King and Debbie & Dan Johnson; sisters-in-law: Imogene Chappelear and Ellen Chappelear; and special care giver: Cathy Dodson Smith. She is also survived by Joyce Baskins, Susie Sanders, Brenda Whitworth, Rhonda Sanders Weaver, April Sanders Shirley, Steven Whitworth, Chris Whitworth, Jay Baskins, and Jon Baskins.
The funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2019 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the service. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the North East Georgia Animal Shelter, 870 Bear Creek Road, Lavonia, GA 30553.
