Audrey Joyce Howell Hughes

Audrey Joyce Howell Hughes, 83, of Dallas, GA, formerly of Hartwell, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice, Marietta surrounded by her family.

Born September 28, 1942, in Cramerton, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Craft Howell and Nellie Mae Howell. Joyce worked for many years at Dunlop Sports of Hartwell and retired from Springs Industries.

Joyce’s love of music began as a child, when she taught herself to play piano by ear. She went on to enjoy crafting songs and singing throughout her life, Joyce was a member for over 40 years of the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, finding great joy singing in the church choir and performing with the Hobson family.

She was dedicated to her church and to sharing her faith with others, finding joy in watching her church grow. She and her husband delivered meals to homebound members of the community, always ready to lend a hand to those in need.

Above all, she cherished her family, treasuring every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, David L. Hughes; her two daughters, Darlene Hughes Kittrell (Columbus, GA) and Dr. Pamela Hughes Adeli (Goshi) of Acworth, GA; three grandchildren, Allison Adeli Moran (Robert), Dr. Caroline Grace Kittrell, and Alex Adeli (Kenley); and four great-grandchildren, Hudson, Mason, and Rowan Moran, and Hayden Adeli.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Elizabeth Kidd, Craft Junior Howell, and Wadus Dean Howell.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 15 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral services for Mrs. Audrey Joyce Hughes will be Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. Stuart Lang officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is assisting the family with all of the arrangements.
