Ms. Avelene (Willis) Hall, age 78, of Hartwell, died Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Landmark Hospital of Athens.
Born November 11, 1933, in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Charlie and Levenia (Ivester) Willis. She was a cosmetologist and taught piano for over 30 years. She was raised in the Church of God faith, where she developed a love of music. She was a member of several gospel singing groups, including the Avelene Hall Singers and the Sweet Spirit Singers. Ms. Hall attended Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she was the church pianist.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Rogers Willis; sister and brother-in-law: Nell & Harold Fowler; and great nephew: Andrew Mitchell.
She is survived by her nephews and nieces: David & Kristy Fowler of Canon and Denise & Scott Mitchell of Canon; great-nephews and nieces: Tyler, Bridgette, & Isaac Fowler, Lauren Fowler, Madison Fowler, Alex Mitchell, and Anthony Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2012 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Stowe, Rev. Randall Starrett, and Rev. Tony Goodwin officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Monday beginning at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, The Daystar Broadcasting Network, or the Trinity Broadcasting Network.
