Mrs. Avis McKern Hendrix, 90, of 196 Gloria Street, Hartwell, died Friday, June 3 at Hart Care Center.
Born on October 20, 1920 in Hart County GA, she was the daughter of the late William Howard McKern and Bertha Morris McKern.She was retired from American Laundry and Dry Cleaning and a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Shelvy Myers and her husband Bill of Hartwell; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Hendrix of Hartwell; two brothers, Edwin McKern of Royston and Harold McKern of Canon; five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survives.Mrs. Hendrix was preceded in death by her husband Paul Mitchell Hendrix; son, Paul Wayne Hendrix; brother, James McKern and a sister, Mary Bailey.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Teasley and Rev. Randall Starrett officiating. Burial will be in the Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night.The family is at the home of Shelvy and Bill Myers, 130 Wisteria Cove Ext, Hartwell.Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1276 Royston Hwy, Hartwell GA 30643.
