Mrs. Avis Ethridge Herring, age 94, of Lavonia, died Monday, December 14, 2009 at Brown Memorial Convalescent Center.
Born January 9, 1915 in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late Jess & Emma (Dover) Ethridge. She was a homemaker and member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Leland Frank Herring; brothers: C.O. Ethridge & Harold Ethridge, and sisters: Helen Beggs, Novella Webb, Elizabeth Smart, & Ethel Weaver.
She is survived by sons: Joe Herring of Canon & Gerald Herring of Gainesville; daughter: Bonnie Maxwell of Canon; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Franklin Memorial Gardens – North with Rev. Kenneth Jones officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 250 Pleasant Grove Rd, Lavonia, GA 30553.
