Ms. Barbara Anderson Bruce, 73, of Melody Point, Hartwell, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Born on November 26, 1942 in Augusta GA, she was the daughter of the late Lafayette "L.F." Anderson and Myrtle Cox Anderson.Mrs. Bruce was a retired county clerk for the Gwinnett County Commissioners Office.She was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hartwell, the J.O.Y. SS Class and also participated on the cooking team. Mrs. Bruce was a member of the Sardis Baptist Bible Study, the Book Club, the Nancy Hart Garden Club, served on the Board of Directors of Hart County Community Theater and also worked at the Election Polls.

Survivors include her son: Bill Bruce and his wife Michelle of St. Simons GA; her daughter: Cyrise Griffin and her husband Carl of Athens GA; two sisters: Shirley Padgett and her husband Norman of Hephzibah GA and Geraldine Hughes and her husband Billy of Matthews GA; four grandchildren: Sarah and Carl Griffin Jr., and Harbin and Maddy Bruce.Mrs. Bruce was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers: L.F. Anderson Jr. and Lanelle Anderson.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 19, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Albanese and Rev. Carter Tucker officiating.Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta GA.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening.The family is at the home.Flowers appreciated, memorials may be made to the YMCA of Hartwell, 281 Opal Ext, Hartwell, Georgia 30643.
