Obituary
Mrs. Barbara Jane Welborn Chitwood, 64, of 2600 Whippoorwill Trail, Hartwell, died Monday, January 3 at her home.
Born on December 14, 1946 in Hartwell GA, she was the daughter of the late Pat Welborn and Edna Shiflet Welborn.She was a former clerk at Powell's Grocery and a member of the Price Chapel Church of God.
She is survived by her husband, Danny V. Chitwood; two daughters, Sharon D. Walston of Atlanta and Angela D. Purcell of Hartwell; a brother, Donnie Welborn of Hartwell, a sister, Patsy Alewine of Hartwell; four grandchildren, Paige Purcell, Vance Purcell, Mandy Dendy and Daniel Dendy and a great-grandchild also survives.Mrs. Chitwood was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Dendy and a great-grandchild, Cameron Purcell.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 6 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Johnny Stowe officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night.The family is at the home.
