Barbara Stevens Cobb of C&C Circle, Hartwell, GA died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Southern Pines Assisted Living in Maysville, GA.

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Della Stevens. In the mid 1920's the family moved to Demorest from Portland, Oregon.

She began her career as a home economics teacher. Later she earned her Masters degree in Business education. She taught in Madison County and Hart County before teaching at North Georgia Technical College, and she retired from Athens Technical College. She was a member of the Hart County Retired Teachers Association, andHartwell First Baptist Church.

Known for her musical skills, she sang in her church choir and played the organ. She loved traveling, gardening, and water sports.


She is preceded in death by her husband Bryan Cobb and her only sister Carol S. Hancock of Demorest, GA. . She is survived by Barbara Jarrard, Paige Harvey and Steve Hancock and by several grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11:00A.M. in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral, 305 Cleveland Ave. Hartwell.Entombment will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Homer W. Stevens Scholarship Fund at Piedmont College, P.O. Box 10, 165 Central Avenue, Demorest, GA. 30535.
