Barbara Jean McKenzie Coker, age 86, of Lavonia, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 at Elbert Memorial Hospital in Elberton.
Born February 7, 1936, in Atlanta, GA, she was a daughter of the late Allen S. McKenzie, Sr. and Lula Victoria Born McKenzie. She was a homemaker. She was passionate about her yard work and enjoyed crocheting. She attended Compassion Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son Gerald Coker (Sue) of Bowersville; daughters: Shelia Mullins (Rocky) of Martin, Regina Coker Widener (Darrell) of Lavonia, Cheryl Crawford (Phillip) of Marietta, and Carla Rumley (David) of Marietta; brother: Danny McKenzie of Villa Rica; sisters: Martha Ann Gentry of Villa Rica and Elsie Hicks of Horseshoe Beach, FL; grandchildren: Angel Foster, Beth Birge, Cindy Brown, Laura Greeson, Dana Callaway, Mary LeSesne, Rocky Mullins, Jr., Brandy Marchman, Bryan Coker, Cayla StClair, McKenzie Novak, and Denise Moss; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Bobby Donald Coker; sons: Rodney Coker and Dwayne Coker; brothers: Allen McKenzie, Jr. and David McKenzie; and grandchild: Christy Shuler.
The graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2022 at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Atlanta with Rev. Leon Carson and Rev. Lamar Gentry officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
