Mrs. Barbara Neal (Williams) Freeman, age 80, of Martin, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at her home following an extended illness.
Born December 23, 1937, in Stephens County, she was the daughter of the late Jay Pope and Sue (Addison) Williams. She was a graduate of Lavonia High School. Mrs. Freeman retired from the Georgia Department of Family and Children's Services after 32 years of service. She was a member of Martin Baptist Church, where she served as church pianist and organist for 45 years. She was a member of the Martin Women's Club and the National Guard Enlisted Association Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years: Max Freeman; son & daughter-in-law: Jeff & Melanie Freeman; grandson: William "Beau" Freeman; and brother & sister-in-law: Gary & Carole Williams.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Martin Baptist Church with Dr. Roddy Turner and Rev. Brian Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Roger Whiten officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Don Foster, Larry Kirkland, David A. Mitchell, James Pless, Bob Stowe, and Bruce Thomas.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made, in Mrs. Freeman's memory, to Martin Baptist Church, P.O. Box 152, Martin, GA 30557.
