Mrs. Barbara Doris (Papay) Kamens, age 72, of 531 Providence Circle, Statham, died Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born August 10, 1938, in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Edward Charles Papay and Mary (McCue) Papay. She was a retired Witness Assistant with the Northern Judicial Circuit. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Oconee County Senior Center, and had served as wrestling coach with USA Youth Wrestling. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Athens.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Donna & Ronnie Stansbury of Dallas; sons and daughters-in-law: Michael & Charlotte Kamens of Royston and John & Jennifer Kamens of Statham; and eight grandchildren: John Mark Kamens, Jr., Alexandra Kamens, Kendra Stansbury, Ashlynn Stansbury, Shayna Stansbury, Andrew Kamens, Kate Kamens, and Erin Kamens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Louis Papay and Edward Walter Papay.
A memorial mass will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Athens. A private burial service will be held at a later date at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Hartwell.
