Mrs. Barbara Dockery Maxwell, 79 of Hartwell, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025 at AnMed Medical Center.

Born on March 31, 1947 in Royston GA, she was the daughter of the late John Luther Dockery and Mae Belle Pilgrim Dockery.  Mrs. Maxwell was a self-employed Beautician, former owner-operator of The Max Clothing Store and retired floor manager of Scottie's Drug Store.  She was also a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son: Randal Maxwell (Delana) of Hartwell; one daughter: Rita Vickery (Gary) of Hartwell; five grandchildren: Amanda Brown (Kyle), Justin Vickery (Haley McElhannon), Rafe Maxwell, Ally Vickery, Reece Maxwell; and one great-grandchild: Kyson Brown.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Ralph C. Maxwell; four sisters: Connie Johnson, Annie Belle Cape, Helen Carey and Betty Fields and three brothers: Howard Dockery, Frank Dockery and Johnny Dockery.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 7, 2025 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Maxwell will be Monday, April 7, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Meeks officiating.  Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park
