Barbara Jean Hill Ray, age 66, of Lavonia, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at her home following a brief illness.
She was born April 17, 1954, in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Norman and Bessie Watkins Hill. She was a homemaker. She had worked as a caregiver to her mother and other relatives as well as operating a house cleaning business for a time. She was of the Christian faith.
She is survived by her husband: David Ray; step-children: Melissa Parker and Johnny (Hillary) Ray; brothers: Larry "Carlos" Hill, James (Rhonda) Hill, and Herman (Ann) Hill, sister: Betty (Pete) Waldrop; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Dr. Larry Finger officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org).
