Mr. Barton Earl Briggs, 62, of Canon, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens.

Born on May 22, 1962, in Libertyville, IL, he was the son of the late Earl Peter Briggs and Saundra Hawkins Briggs. Mr. Briggs loved his family, supported military and law enforcement organizations, and was a big Green Bay Packers fan.

Survivors include his longtime companion: Tommie Randall; one daughter: Tanya Knecht (Jeremiah Bowie) of Starr, SC; one stepdaughter: Linda Morton of Canon; one brother: Forrest Briggs of Hartwell; two sisters: Susan Wilson of Rayle, GA, and Judith Moore of Anderson, SC; and three grandchildren and four step-grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Briggs was preceded in death by his parents and a stepson: Jeff Randall.

It was Mr. Briggs wishes to be cremated and memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later date by the family.

The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
