Mrs. Beatrice McCurley Vickery, age 94, of Lavonia, died Sunday, October 30, 2011 peacefully in her sleep.
Born November 8, 1916, in Oconee County, SC , she was the daughter of the late Bart and Lily (Vickery) McCurley. She retired from Stone Mfg. Mrs. Vickery was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. She spent her retired years enjoying family, friends, and gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Robert Mariet Vickery; daughter-in-law: Joan Richardson Vickery; brothers: Collie "O.C." McCurley and Glenn McCurley; and sisters: Marie Osborne, Lois Vickery, and Nettie Mae Wood.
She is survived by her sons: Emory Vickery and Ben H. Vickery and his wife Elizabeth; grandchildren: Tim Vickery and his wife Tina, Todd Vickery and his wife Christen, Shan Vickery, and Laura Vickery; and great-grandchildren: Matt Vickery, Bryan Vickery, Chuck Vickery, and Bryson Vickery.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Harris and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home of Emory Vickery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 1333 Pleasant Hill Road, Martin, GA 30557.
