Mr. Ben T. Saylors, age 81, of Canon, died Monday, December 10, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospice House.
Born January 8, 1931 in Franklin County, he was the son of the late John Ben and Pearl (Brady) Saylors. He was a 1949 graduate from Lavonia High School. He retired as a shop mechanic from Lavonia Manufacturing. Mr. Saylors was a member of New Franklin Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife: Mary (Voyles) Saylors of the home; son: Steve Saylors of Canon; daughters: Susan Tyson of Louisiana and Patricia Little of Martin; sisters: Esther Hyde of Lavonia and Blanche Burden of Dewy Rose; and brothers: Lawrence Saylors of Bowersville and Thomas Joe Saylors of Canon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Leon Saylors.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Hubert Carter officiating. A private burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home.
