Mr. Benjamin Franklin Hill, age 96, of Lavonia, died Monday, April 26, 2010 at Brown Memorial Convalescent Center.
Born October 12, 1913 in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Robert & Alice (Fowler) Hill. He owned and operated Hill's Supply Store and was retired from the Lavonia Housing Authority. He was a member of The Pointe Church of God (Toccoa), where he had many years of faithful service. Mr. Hill was a former Lavonia city councilman and was a WWII veteran of the US Army.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife: Maycle (Phillips) Hill; second wife: Louise (Mize) Hill; a brother: Clifford Hill; and a sister: Jessie Fleming Collins.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Rose & Jim York of Lavonia, GA & Betty & Tim Cornett of Snellville, GA; sons and daughters-in-law: Marvin & Rachel Hill of Westminster, SC & Herman & Laura Hill of Douglasville, GA; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at The Pointe Church of God (Toccoa) with Rev. Terry Addis & Rev. Dennis Rafala officiating. The body will lie in state beginning at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
