Mr. Bennie Reid, age 91 of 56 Homestead Rd, Hartwell GA, died Monday, September 28, 2009 at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Born April 23, 1918 in Hart County, GA, he was the son of the late James "Jim" Reid and Roxie Eleanor Smith Reid.He was a retired from Monroe Auto Equipment Co. after 26 years.He was a member of Flat Shoals Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran having served in the European theater.

He is survived by:Wife of 66 years, Elizabeth Cantrell Reid; Sons, Don Reid of Hartwell, GA, Rev. Ronald Keith Reid of Adairsville, GA and Terry Reid of Hartwell, GA; Daughter, Eleanor Feltman of Hartwell, GA; Eight grandchildren, Kevin Feltman, Dona Sanders, Tara Burdette all of Hartwell, GA; Shannon Reid of Anderson, SC, Jason Reid of Athens, GA, Angie McCraken, Tim Reid and Kimberly Reid of Adairsville, GA; Eight great grandchildren also survive.He is preceded in death by his Parents; Brother, Carl Reid, Grandson, Brandon Reid and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Rev. Michael Fugate, Dr. Wendell Bannister, Mr. Fred Greenway will officiate. Entombment will be in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, SC.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 10 – 11:00 am prior to the service.The family is at the home of Eleanor Feltman, 718 Laurel Drive, Hartwell, GA.
