Bernard Franklin Tant, Jr., age 77, of Chandler St., Hartwell, passed November 23rd, 2007 at Gwinnett Medical Center.
Mr. Tant was the son of the late Bernard Franklin Tant, Sr. and Francis Higginbotham Tant. He was born in Decatur Georgia and attended the University of Georgia, graduating in the Class of 1953.After graduation, he served his country as an officer in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.A career pharmaceutical representative based in Athens, Georgia, he retired to Hartwell.He was a Master Mason and a member of the American Legion, Hartwell Post 109.
He is survived by two sons, Bernard Franklin Tant III of Athens and Steven Mark Tant of Hartwell and his daughter, Tracey Tant Gettys of Hartwell; four grandchildren, Nicole, Brian, Katy, and Paris; his sister, Betsy Leebern of Columbus GA; his dear friend and mother of his children, Jeanette Tant and special lifelong friend, Jimmy Johnson of Atlanta.
Mr. Tant wished to be cremated and a memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 27th at 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Jay Bailey officiating.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
