Ms. Berta Lee Ricks Reed, 88, of Lavonia, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Hartwell Health & Rehab.

Born on July 16, 1936 in Hart County, GA, she was the daughter of the late John Ricks and Lorene Evans Ricks.  Ms. Reed was a former CNA for Hart Care Center and she retired from the Hart Haven Shelter. Berta Lee loved her flowers, gardening, and taking care of her grandchildren. She was also of the Church of God faith.

Survivors include her son: Wayne Reed (Beth) of Lavonia; one brother: David Ricks of Knoxville, TN; three sisters: Opal McDowell and Sara Alice Fleming both of Hartwell; and Catherine Woodall of Anderson; four grandchildren: Ashleigh Haley, Austin Reed, Leeanna Reed, Rebecca Wilson; and four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive. Ms. Reed is preceded in death by her parents; one son: Billy W. Reed; and four brothers: Johnny Ricks, Dorsey Ricks, Mark Ricks, and Billy Ricks.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Memorial services for Ms. Berta Lee Reed will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.
